3. Properties of amorphous materials

The metallic character, but lack of long-range order in metallic glasses, gives them properties that are obviously different from their crystalline counterparts.

However, certain characteristics mean that improved performance is sometimes achieved by partial devitrification of the amorphous material, as in the case of optimized magnetic and mechanical properties.
