4. Conclusion

It's fair to say that there's a huge range of physical methods that can be used in metallurgy, but that they all retain a high degree of specificity.

These are extremely powerful methods, providing information that cannot be obtained by any other means. But interpreting the results is extremely delicate, and always requires the experience of a specialist.
