Coefficient de sécurité; Safety factor

Ratio between the value of a stress causing a failure and the value of the operating stress stipulated by regulations, for example.

Residual stress; Contrainte résiduelle

Represents the state of stress (compression or tension) of a material when it is not subjected to any external load.

Low Cycle Fatigue (LCF)

Range below 10 ⁴ to 10 ⁵ oscillation cycles, determined by Low Cycle Fatigue (LCF) test.

High Cycle Fatigue (HCF)

Determined in the High Cycle Fatigue (HCF) test: the result is the number of oscillation cycles at a given load amplitude.
