Whatever the alloy (steel, cast iron, copper, brass, aluminum) to be molded, the pouring or transfer ladle has a capacity ranging from a few hundred kilos to a maximum of 5 tons.
Cast alloys have temperatures ranging from 700°C to 1,600°C.
Thermokinetics can be used to identify various physical problems generated by the temperature rise in the ladle. Three main thermal regimes can be identified.
