8. CLP Regulation

A harmonized system for classifying and labeling the hazardous properties of substances and mixtures is a prerequisite for providing information on the risks and hazards associated with them. In Europe, the directives relating to the classification, labeling and packaging of dangerous substances (67/548/EEC, known as the Dangerous Substances Directive) and dangerous preparations (1999/45/EC, known as the Dangerous Preparations Directive) fulfilled this function until 1 er December 2010 and 1 er June 2015 respectively.

In Europe, the Globally Harmonized System of Classification and Labelling of Chemicals is applied through the Classification, Labelling, Packaging (CLP) regulation (no. 1272/2008 – Classification, Labelling, Packaging).
