3. Main wastes generated in the foundry

The main wastes generated in foundries can be divided into two categories:

  • non-process-related waste, i.e. waste not specific to the foundry and resulting from ancillary operations;

  • process-related waste generated during the manufacturing process of a cast metal part.

3.1 Non-process waste

Non-process waste consists mainly of :

  • wooden or plastic pallets,

  • non-hazardous waste: big-bags, paper bags, cardboard, plastic packaging,

  • metal and plastic drums and packaging,

  • protective equipment,
