2. Design of the extruded part. Design examples

Cold extrusion is not something to be done for pleasure, but only if the use of this technique generates relative savings, likely to lead to a more competitive product. Here are a few examples:

  • conditions to be met when considering the use of extrusion ;

  • factors to consider to improve manufacturing and make it more economical ;

  • and finally, the process leading to the final solution.

First, we need to remember that the problem generally arises in the following two contexts:

  • the part exists and the manufacturing method is to be changed, either to save money, or to better solve functional problems; let's not forget that the part may or may not have been designed with extrusion in mind: the manufacturer...
