4. Outlook for chrome plating

In this paragraph, which is more a prospective approach than a presentation of scientific results, we show the future possibilities of this type of deposition. Despite numerous efforts to find substitutes for this surface coating, no process is currently likely to replace hard chromium plating in the short term. We'll take up the comparison made by Michael Murphy, editor-in-chief of the well-known journal Metal Finishing, who in a recent editorial (1995), comparing hard chromium plating to a top-class rugby player reaching retirement age, finds no replacement but rather a number of players doing as well (or better) in certain areas, none of them likely to replace him.
