3.1 Main electroplated alloys

Various types of nickel alloys can be codeposited [24] . In his Traité de Galvanoplastie [5] , Louis LACOURCELLE provides a number of details on nickel alloys, in particular nickel-cobalt, nickel-iron and nickel-molybdenum.

For nickel-cobalt deposits, the addition of cobalt to nickel baths improves brightness and hardness. Its role is more or less equivalent to that of organic addition compounds, without the disadvantage of the formation of by-products during the various chemical and electrochemical reactions.
