3.1 Ammonia gas nitriding

3.1.1 Principle

Anhydrous ammonia gas of superior quality to 99.98% (recommended values: H 2 0 < 200 ppm, oil < 2 ppm, dew point temperature < - 48°C) or better to 99.99% (table 3 ) is injected into a sealed metal muffle furnace (pot or bell furnace) with perfect mixing of the atmosphere and high temperature accuracy (SAE-AMS 2759/6A recommends ± 8°C).
