2. Properties of oven-drying paints

Metallic substrates, such as steel, aluminum alloys and galvanized steels, are factory-protected with paints that require heat to cover. Most of these products, although delivered in a single package, contain a polymer and a hardener, both of which are stable at ordinary temperatures. After curing, these products are formulated to provide an adherent, continuous film that is impervious to water, chemicals and solvents. They are generally harder than their air-drying counterparts.

These include liquid paints, thermosetting powder paints and other preparations adapted to specific protection needs. Here are a few examples.
