5. Conclusion

Various approaches and techniques have been proposed to further characterize the wettability of surfaces described as superhydrophobic or superoleophobic, in relation to the behavior of an applied drop. Among these, drop rebound analysis is by far the simplest to implement and provides a relatively easy way of assessing the wetting resistance of a surface texture under forced wetting conditions. However, as pointed out in this article, this technique cannot simulate confinement conditions or other experimental parameters such as pressure, which could be relevant to certain applications.

Advanced characterization of the wettability of these surfaces, and anticipation of the robustness of the non-wetting property under these conditions, will therefore require the implementation of strategies that are more complex to implement, such as those proposed in this article,...
