3. Worldwide location of units

Figure 7 shows two important facts.

  • Old industrialized countries

    They are hardly involved in the industrial development of these processes, even though, paradoxically, most of them originate from studies carried out in these regions (table 5 ).

  • Developing countries

    On the other hand, they produced a total of over 43 Mt of reduced iron ore, and this production is strongly growing and concentrated (table 6 ).
