1.1 Definition

The French standard NF A 40-001 (10-84) gives the following definition: "sheet metal is a flat product rolled leaving the edges free to deform, delivered in flat sheets, with the edges either unrolled or sheared".

Heavy plate has a thickness of 4,76 mm (3/16) .
