2.1 Metal working and continuous casting

Metal production essentially involves two stages (figure 2 ):

  • manufacture of liquid metal from raw materials (ore, cast iron, scrap metal) and ladle metallurgy, giving the metal a specific analysis and cleanliness;

  • steel solidification and continuous casting (for most of the wire) or ingot casting.
