3. Carburation. Metal dusting

Carburization is considered here as a corrosion phenomenon, but can also be seen as a metallurgical treatment, analogous to case-hardening treatments to harden materials (hardening of carbon steel gear teeth after they have been cut by a press), for example. In this case, it is the metal parts of the heat treatment furnaces (conveyor belt, muffle) that are subject to the carburizing (corrosion) problems studied in this article
