In the past, some repairs may have been faulty due to incorrect diagnosis, unsuitable products or installation by non-specialists.

There are now documents or actions that lead to improving the repair procedure:

• European standards, for example those in the EN NF 1504 series which define eleven repair principles, the associated methods, and the product specifications to be used (performance characteristics, required or optional);
