2. Materials for plain bearings

The purpose of this paragraph is simply to highlight the aspects that will influence the choice of materials.

2.1 Solid lubricant materials

Readers are referred to the article , § 3 M1 materials.

They feature the following characteristics:

  • they are generally the most expensive;

  • they have a static coefficient of friction close to the dynamic coefficient, which varies greatly depending on the load: the static coefficient is generally lower than that of lubricated materials; on the other hand, the dynamic coefficient is higher than that of lubricated materials;
