3.1 Smooth lubrication with oil or grease

  • General: Smooth running refers to operating conditions in which surfaces are not separated by a fluid film, but lubricants are used to reduce friction. This operating mode is called "boundary". It is also known as mixed operation, but this implies that part of the load is supported by a pressurized film, which is not always the case.
