8. Conclusion

This article has presented the theory of elastohydrodynamic (EHD) lubrication, which makes it possible to determine the thickness of the oil film in Hertzian contacts (i.e. bearings, gears and cam-push contacts). The development of this theory was delayed by a number of hurdles, so much so that it was not until 1977 that a satisfactory theory was available
