3. Determining the model's microgeometric parameters
Greenwood and Williamson's model describes contact between a rigid smooth surface and a deformable rough surface model, but most real-life situations involve two deformable rough surfaces. Using the model in real-life situations requires a gateway with three components:
a transition between a rough-on-rough geometry and the rough-on-smooth model;
a transition between the studied deformable-on-deformable contact and the rigid deformable contact of the model ;
finally, a method for identifying the parameters of the microgeometric model on each surface.
