5. The mixed lubrication model

Mixed lubrication is a particular type of lubrication [TRI1500][BM7530][BM7536] in which the lubricant film thickness is of the order of magnitude of the relief of the parts in contact. This results in a discontinuous oil film (figure 22 ), with zones of liquid lubrication on the majority of the contact and zones of direct contact on the remainder.
