4. Conclusion

This article first presented the plastic wave model used by the Oxley and Torrance teams to model friction, estimate the level of plastic deformation in abrasion and estimate the Archard wear coefficient k*, using a Manson-Coffin type low-cycle fatigue law. These two teams have also developed an experimental approach by measuring the friction and wear of a rotating disc subjected to the pressure of a dihedron. This approach, applied to tests carried out with various dihedral angles, has enabled us to identify the two coefficients of the oligocyclic fatigue law for various metal alloys, information that is difficult to obtain by other experimental means, since it is not very representative of frictional deformation conditions.
