acoustic diode; diode acoustique

Device that allows sound to pass in one direction but blocks it completely in the opposite direction.

dioptre; diopter

In optics, the surface separating two homogeneous, isotropic transparent media with different refractive indices.

epicenter; epicenter

Projection on the Earth's surface of the hypocenter or focus, the point where the rupture in the Earth's crust originates during an earthquake.

A plane wave whose amplitude decreases exponentially with distance from the source.
