5. Conclusion

Piezoelectric thin-film technologies enable the design and industrial manufacture of RF filters (operating at high frequencies). To improve data transmission, we need to increase the number of radio frequency (RF) bands, increase bandwidth, and reduce latency. 5G/6G RF filter technologies, such as SAW and BAW, are based on piezoelectric thin films of materials such as LiNb(Ta)O 3 and Al(Sc)N. These present technical challenges from a performance point of view, especially with regard to the quality factor, which is deemed insufficient, and the limitations of current manufacturing techniques. 5G/6G communications promise significant benefits for modern society beyond cellular networks, facilitating the Internet of Things, smart transport and city systems, autonomous cars, complex manufacturing and more.
