6. Glossary

macromonomer; macromonomer

Polymerizable macromolecule, itself made up of several monomers.

storage modulus (G')

Modulus representing the elasticity of the material. Its response is in phase with deformation. It corresponds to the real part of the complex shear modulus (G*).

loss modulus (G'')

Modulus representing the viscous nature of the material. Its response is in quadrature with deformation. It corresponds to the imaginary part of the complex shear modulus (G*).

Young's modulus; tensile modulus

Constant linking tensile (or compressive) stress and the onset of deformation in an isotropic elastic material. It characterizes the material's rigidity.
