2. Dynamic insulation

2.1 Principle

Since it is impossible to reduce conductive heat loss to zero by improving the insulating material, dynamic insulation aims to make the wall function as a heat exchanger. Heat losses are recovered, for example, by preheating fresh air from outside, circulating it inside the walls. There are two types of dynamic insulation.

  • Permeodynamic insulation: air flows against the flow of heat through the insulation, which must be a permeable porous material:

    • in an open circuit, using renewal air (figure 4 a );
