3. Areas of use

The application sectors for technical textiles are extremely diverse, encompassing all textile applications outside the traditional apparel and furnishing sectors. At the frontier of these fields, the degree of innovation and technical sophistication brought to traditional textiles has enabled the development of new applications that increasingly broaden the range of technical textiles with specific properties adapted to their end uses.

Although various applications for these textiles have already been mentioned, the information summarized here presents the main fields of application for these technical textiles, according to the Guide 2000 de l'acheteur des textiles techniques [16] , published by TUT magazine on behalf of the Textiles Techniques de France association.
