5. Conclusion

Friction in textiles and textiles against themselves or another material has been widely studied for over a century. As a result, many advances have been made, such as optimizing the twist angle to increase the tensile strength of yarns. However, a number of long-standing or much more recent problems remain unresolved, and are the subject of ongoing studies in which researchers and industry often collaborate.

A long-standing and recurring problem concerns the characterization and modeling of the feel of textile surfaces. Researchers have made progress, but not in a totally satisfactory way, as no solution valid for all types of textile surfaces exists to date. This is due to the complexity of the problem, which is not only related to the human sense of touch, but also to the culture and experience of each individual.
