1.1 Notion of shielding

The term "armor" designates a physical protection system whose role is to neutralize a threat, generally in the form of a projectile, by limiting or even eliminating the effects on the person or object to be protected. It can be used to protect human beings (military and/or civilian), aeronautical structures (helicopters), aerospace structures (satellites), land structures (armored vehicles), marine structures or even infrastructure.
