3. Composition of the sealant mix

3.1 Constituents

Standard glasses for food packaging are obtained from different combinations of three families of main constituents, namely :

  • vitreux network trainers ;

  • fluxes ;

  • stabilizers.

We also find :

  • refining (elimination of small gas bubbles within the glass);

  • colorants (iron chromite, nickel oxide, cobalt oxide, etc.);

  • bleaches (cobalt, selenium, etc.);

  • Reducers (coke, slag) ;

  • or oxidizing agents.
