2. Tribological properties

Table  1 compiles the mechanical and thermophysical properties that determine the tribological behavior of solid ceramics. Compared with 100Cr6, the moduli of elasticity of ceramics are much higher, which increases Hertzian contact stresses (pressures). Thermal conductivity determines the evacuation or dissipation of frictional energy losses, especially in dry friction  [BM 7 006] .
