The various domestic wood-burning appliances can be classified according to several criteria: type of loading (manual or automatic), type of heating (auxiliary or mains), type of combustion chamber...

  • Classification by load type

    Manually-loaded appliances are generally low-powered systems (fireplaces, stoves, inserts) fuelled by logs, with operation largely dependent on the user. Automatic-loading systems usually use split fuels (pellets, chips, etc.) and can be of higher power, with better-controlled combustion.

  • Ranking by heating type
