3. Membrane presses for relief panels

This technique is also known as 3D Laminating. Its purpose is to laminate plastic films –, usually plasticized decorative PVC – onto panels with molded reliefs.

The starting point is dense MDF panels that can easily be moulded using routers or routers, with reliefs up to 1 cm deep.

The adhesive is applied to these panels either by spray or, rather, by curtain machine.

The coating is most often a PVC film, but in some countries where PVC is considered environmentally unfriendly, it may be replaced by ABS, or polypropylene, which is more difficult to bond. PVC films are laminated with polyurethane emulsions that develop the high heat cohesion required, as we shall see.

PP films require very special adhesive formulations (acrylics or VAEs with good heat cohesion) and, what's more, the PP film...
