3.1 Industrial furnaces

The treatment is applied to solid sawn timber (lumber, rafters, boards, etc.). Retification reactors were developed by Fours et Brûleurs Rey using a fixed-bed discontinuous convection heating principle. The enclosure is a double-shell stainless steel cell with a parallelepiped geometry similar to that of furnaces used in the metallurgy industry (figures 7 and 8 ). Two doors, sealed by jacks at each end, allow the wood load to be moved in and out by means of a carriage running on rails. The heat-transfer gas is heated by electrical resistors...
