 INTRODUCTION

Editor's note

Directive 67/548/EEC of June 27, 1967, describing the classification method for substances known as DSD, has been repealed with the full implementation of CLP regulation 1272/2008. This classification is therefore no longer used in Europe.

Source ANSES

You are a manufacturer, importer or distributor of a chemical substance. As such, the CLP regulation requires you to propose a DSD classification ("old classification") for this substance. What are the main steps involved?

Classification enables the hazards associated with a substance to be identified and communicated. It is therefore important to establish it for the substances you use or place on the market.

  • What documents will you use as a basis?

  • What are the hazard classes to be identified and the criteria to be used for classification?

  • Are there any special cases?
