First, you need to identify the relevant information available to determine whether the substance or one of its impurities/stabilizers presents a physical, health or environmental hazard.
Relevant data can have several origins:
Data required according to the regulations applicable to the substance (REACh, pesticides, biocides, etc.). These data are either produced using internationally recognized validated methods conducted according to good laboratory practice, or are derived from bibliographic data which may come from recognized international programs relating to chemicals.
Effects reported in humans (occupational data, accidents, epidemiological studies).
Existing SDS on the substance.
