2. Harmonization sets out the mandatory elements to be applied

If your substance is harmonized, i.e. listed in Annex VI of the CLP Regulation and its amendments, you are obliged to apply all the classifications and label elements listed in Annex VI of the CLP. It is therefore not necessary to establish your own classification for the hazards listed in Annex VI.

In particular, you must apply :

  • corresponding classifications and hazard statements (e.g. Skin Sens 1 – H317);

  • specific concentration limits (SCLs), if they exist for certain health classifications; they must be taken into account when defining the classification of mixtures containing the substance; in the absence of SCLs for the classifications listed in Annex VI, the generic concentration limits listed in Annex I of CLP must be applied;
