4. Our advice

4.1 Prepare your continuous improvement approach in advance

The 5S project has two distinct dimensions:

  • a methodological dimension consisting of applying the tools for deploying the approach ;

  • a behavioral dimension that is fundamental to the success of the project.

You run the risk of encountering a large number of people who are reluctant to change. That's why it's important to get as many people on board as possible before you start. To do this, you need to take care with communication and involve people in the field as early as possible in the process. You also need to assess the power of those who are reluctant to take part in the project, and talk to them individually...
