2. What is a harmonized substance?
When a substance and its classification are listed in Annex VI of the CLP, this classification is said to be harmonized, and must be applied throughout the European Union. Producers or importers are therefore not required to establish their own classifications for the classifications listed in Annex VI of CLP.
Harmonization applies in particular to substances with CMR properties or which are likely to cause respiratory allergies (respiratory sensitizers). Harmonization also applies to biocidal and plant protection substances evaluated under règlement 528/2012 and règlement 528/2012 .
