5. Limits to hardenability
Limitations vary from application to application, and are often insufficient to meet the needs expressed. But there are also cases where alternative solutions are non-existent. We'll take a look at two such cases, one of current interest, the other evoking an older technology.
5.1 Examples

First of all, let's consider the case of image transmission by CCD camera, whose sensor technology is today very efficient from an optical point of view (resolution, sensitivity, power consumption), but very sensitive to radiation (withstand level of the order of 200 Gy).
