8. Mistakes to avoid

8.1 Don't confuse "Repeatability / Reproducibility (R&R) studies" with "Capability".

The two terms are often confused. The R&R study of the measurement process is advocated in certain documents (MSA) as a prerequisite to the implementation of MSP (statistical process control) as part of manufacturing process management. In this particular context, "R&R" and "Capability" go hand in hand, because we know what we want to do with the measurement process, i.e. determine the capability of the manufacturing process. In this context, the measurement process can be declared capable of determining process capability.
