2. Understanding the Role of CODERST

The CODERST is responsible for issuing an opinion on draft decisions regarding environmentally classified facilities. However, consultation with the CODERST has become optional in several situations.

2.1 ICPE Subject to Registration

Four distinct cases can be identified (Articles R.512-46-17 and R.512-46-22 of the Code of Environmental Protection and Sustainable Development ( Code de l’environnement )).

Case No. 1—The prefect is considering issuing a registration order without modifying the general requirements applicable to the facility: CODERST is not consulted.
