9. Conclusions and outlook

Dendroecology has undergone rapid development over the last few decades, largely due to the emergence of new environmental issues linked, for example, to global warming and increased pressure on the natural environment. In this context, the prospects are numerous and differ according to the different branches of the discipline.

In dendroclimatology, research is focused on the search for new indicators (stable isotopes, for example) to refine paleo-environmental reconstructions. It also involves the integration of new proxies (lake, pollen, glacial, etc.) into reconstructions, in order to improve the preservation of medium- and low-frequency signals
