2. Different controls for different statuses

While D-classified facilities are, in principle, subject to inspection by the environmental inspectorate, they are only inspected in exceptional cases, as they are not a priority. DC classified facilities, on the other hand, are subject to effective periodic inspection by approved bodies at least every five years.

2.1 Inspection procedures

D-classified facilities are subject to environmental inspection. Environmental inspectors may visit facilities under their supervision at any time.

In practice, the inspectorate concentrates on visiting facilities subject to authorization, and more particularly those classified as priority or high-risk. As a result, facilities subject to declaration are never inspected by the inspectorate, except...
