2.1.1 Principles

A biosensor is an electronic device used to transform a biological interaction into an electrical signal. This device is based on the direct spatial coupling of an immobilized biologically active compound, called a "bioreceptor" or "biological recognition element", with a transducer that acts as a detector and an electronic amplifier.
