3. Our advice

3.1 Carry out your own environmental damage assessment

The legislator has provided for the administration to assess environmental damage.

In practice, it is in your interest, as soon as you become aware of a problem likely to have an impact on the environment, to carry out your own assessment of the situation as quickly as possible, without waiting for the authorities to do so themselves or to ask you to do so.

If necessary, this can enable you to quickly implement the necessary corrective action(s), and avoid public exposure of your environmental liability.
