2. What are the different phases of the LOPA method?

The phases of the LOPA method are :

  • selecting an accident scenario ;

  • assessment of the severity of the consequences associated with the accident scenario ;

  • identification of all the initiating events that could lead to the accident scenario ;

  • identification of all measures (or layers of protection) to prevent the accident scenario from unfolding;

  • evaluation of the frequency of initiating events ;

  • evaluation of the stress failure probabilities allocated to the various measures ;

  • assessment of the frequency of occurrence of the accident scenario, taking into account the reduction factor linked to the measures implemented (residual frequency);...
