7. The future of boiler water treatment

The future will incorporate incident anticipation, energy savings, new equipment and digital technology in the organization of performance monitoring and control.

The quartet – operator, water supplier, manufacturer of accessories (steam trap, regulator, etc.) and expert – will form a think-tank, whose regular exchanges will benefit the operator.

Possible new technologies include :

• oxygenated" protective treatment, which will replace current treatments using oxygen reducers. The development of oxygen analyzers will make it easier to continuously regulate oxygen levels to 30-50 ppb using hydrogen peroxide;

• degassing of oxygen and carbon dioxide by membranes ;

• catalytic oxygen degassing in the presence of ammonia.
