Hype Cycle ; Hype Cycle :

This is an analysis tool developed by research firm Gartner, which highlights the adoption lifecycle of technological innovations that are typically encountered. This tool is generally used as an element in investment decision-making, as it identifies the maturity of a technology, which first passes through a stage of hope-disillusion, before becoming widespread in society.

The various phases are as follows:

  • technology trigger ;

  • peak of inflated expectations ;

  • trough disillusionment ;

  • slope of enlightenment ;

  • plateau of productivity.
